Anonymous Paternity Testing

The paternity test information for private use is anonymous, where is not needed to identify the donors samples. This paternity test has no legal value and the report does not contain the names of those involved.

The self-sampling at home is providaded by our "HOME KIT", that can be sent to the address indicated by the applicant, or purchased in one of our laboratories. If you want to purchase a kit directly at one of our laboratories and associated clinics, our assistants can do a demonstration of how to collect a sample of good practice. If you want us to send a "HOME KIT" paying only 25% of the test, STAB VIDA sends an unsuspicious kit of saliva samples collection, accompanied by instructions and recommendations. After collection, samples should be sent to the STAB VIDA laboratory for analysis. The results are then sent to the client (report sent by post or email). All anonymous paternity tests performed in laboratories of STAB VIDA is strictly confidential. Confidentiality is a customer right and our duty.

In addition to keep absolute confidentiality of customers data, STAB VIDA is also committed in not to use the biological samples for any extra ends. Anonymity and confidentiality are guaranteed to collections of biological material at home with no obligation to identify the participants.

Dekkera Testing

Yeasts of genus Dekkera brettanomyces are the cause of great concern in the modern enology, not only for the production of high levels of acetic acid, but mainly for the production of volatile phenols in the medium containing cinnamic acids, causing off-flavours, leading to wine deterioration. With STAB VIDA culture medium, the growth of Dekkera strains is followed by the medium color change, from bue to yellow, and by the formation of the typical off-flavour of 4-ethylphenol. Colonies arise after a maximum of 9 days of incubation. In this medium it is possible to inhibit the growth of other yeasts commonly isolated from wines.

Monoclonal Antibodies

Monoclonal antibodies were first identified as potential cancer treatments three decades ago, as the molecules could be engineered to bind to cancer cells and provoke an immune response against them. They have also proved useful for treating autoimmune disease and are under investigation as a treatment for many other conditions.

Monoclonal antibodies are now approved for treating cancers and autoimmune diseases, and nearly 200 are in clinical trials. Monoclonal antibodies bind only to specific target molecules, giving them a precision that many other drugs lack. These Y-shaped molecules, which are naturally produced by immune cells called B cells, have a nearly identical base but arms that can vary depending on their intended target. The arms bind precisely to the target while the base of the Y provides an anchor for circulating immune cells to attach to.

Paternity Testing

In STAB VIDA laboratories, the Paternity Test is a service of great responsibility, with solid scientific basis. The test is provided by experts in genetics with more than 10 years of experience in works with human DNA, and is performed in a Molecular Biology specialized laboratory.

With the discovery of DNA structure, modern technologies and labs have make it possible to investigate whether or not an individual is the biological father or mother of another individual. The sequence analysis of biochemical units called bases or nucleotides, present in the parents DNA molecule is transmitted to children. The genetic information transmission process occurs with the egg´s mother fertilization by father's sperm. The gametes fusion generates a child with two copies of each genetic information, each copy proveninet from each parent.

In our laboratory, DNA samples extracted from mother (optional), alleged father and son, are analised for at least 15 regions of specific DNA from each individual. The combination of these regions is the individual genetic profile - genetic fingerprint, which is then used in statistical comparison with the other profiles.
